Wineries you must visit while in Santa Barbara County, California
California makes some of the world’s best wines. Although Napa Valley is probably the most famous, Santa Barbara County, which is a short 3-4 hour drive from Los Angeles is a great place to visit.
Here are a few of our favorite wineries to visit in Santa Barbara County:
- Byron Wines - One of our favorite wines (the Pinot Noir’s are wonderful) in the Santa Barbara area, Byron is a must stop for us, mostly because we can’t find a lot of their better wines in local grocery or liquor stores. However, if you are not lucky enough to find them open to the general public for special occasions, you must call ahead for a wine tasting appointment.

- Bedford Thompson Winery & Vineyard - If you are looking for a large winery with tours and caves and buses of tourists, this is not for you. Bedford Thompson is a small tasting room with exceptional wines, usually poured from Bedford himself that you just have to try!

- Curtis Winery - Most of the time, we both prefer red wine over white wine, until we get to the Curtis Winery off the Foxen Canyon trail in Santa Barbara County. Curtis really does have some great tasting whites. Good enough for us to even subscribe to their white wine club! Stop by on your way through the trail.
