2007 Jose L. Mounier Torrontes - Argentina

Jose L. Mounier 2007 Torrontes Wine LabelWe’ve had a warm few October weeks in Southern California and what better way to celebrate these summer-like days then a refreshing bottle of Torrontes wine from Argentina! This is such a great varietal from South America and this bottle of white wine from Jose L. Mounier was no exception. It’s floral, fruity and still a bit dry. A pleasure to drink! (thanks Aaron!)

You can order this one online here.

Gimenez Riili 2005 Torrontes Mendoza, Argentina

Gimenez Riili 2005 TorrontesWhat better on a warm sunny afternoon than this very refreshing white wine. This dry signature white wine from Argentina really hit the spot with nice aromas of citrus and flowers on the nose along with a sweet and fruity taste. Again, extremely refreshing and very enjoyable all the way down!

Food pairing ideas:
Try it with some grilled shrimp, crap or lobster! Or even great with cheese and crackers before dinner.

Wiens Family Cellars 2005 Viognier

This past weekend we went to Temecula, California to attend the Balloon and Wine Festival and decided to make a stop off at Wiens winery along the way. So glad we did. Wiens winery had some very nice wines, especially for those warm summer days.

This California Viognier, is perfect chilled and server on a warm day. As the label says, it’s “Luscious, full bodied, and rich.” Some great fruity flavors of pear and apricot with notes of floral and spice make this a very drinkable Viognier white wine.

Food pairing ideas:
Tastes great with some grilled seafood, chicken or goat cheese.

You can order through the wonderful staff at Wiens: 888.98.WIENS

Rutherford Ranch Napa Valley 2004 Chardonnay

Rutherford Ranch The Rutherford Ranch Chardonnay is probably one of our favorite Chardonnay’s from Napa Valley. Starts off with a wonderful smell of apricot, apple, cinnamon and cloves. Taste has a great oaky spice to it with flavors of apple and pear fruits mixed with a nice and clean citrus finish. Goes great with seafood, chicken and even by itself, this wine is great anytime. Chill it before drinking and enjoy! Fantastic wine from Napa Valley at a good price! (around $12)

Terza Volta Mendoza Argentina 2005 Sauvignon Blanc

“Floral and fresh wine, with body of fruit and silky palate, great refinement.” We actually thought it was, both smell and taste, very “earthy” and more dry compared to other Sauvignon Blancs we’ve had. Yes, it had good fruit taste but again, “earthy” to both of us after the first smell and sip. Not too bad! (and even better the 2nd and 3rd glasses.) It amazes me they just picked these grapes in February. This is a very young wine straight off the vines!

Imported by our good friend down in Argentina.

Maurice Carrie Temecula Valley 2004 Sara Bella

It’s a white Cabernet Sauvignon that is very close to Beringer’s White Zin. Wouldn’t drink nor buy this wine again… but don’t let that give you a negative view of the Temecula Valley. There are some really good wines there. And a great place to visit especially during the hot air balloon festival.

Vinuva Pinot Grigio Italy 2001

Beautiful looking bottle, crap wine. Bought it from Costco because it looked like a nice decoration. Figured we should just drink it. Not a good idea. No flavor, never again.
