Hacienda Del Plata Mayoral 2002 Syrah Reserve
This Syrah from Argentina really impressed us. Fantastic wine!
A cool little piece from the label:
“This wine makes us remember the brave, expert mountaineers who were men influenced by the wild nature of the Andes. This Syrah that shines in the light and matures in the dark, was able to capture the secrets of that landscape and in people. It is generous and sober in those fragances and colours that high-lighted for ever the lands of Hacienda del Plata.”

Curtis Santa Barbara County 2002 Syrah
What a good bottle of wine. No wonder we signed up for this wine club. We actually signed up for this club because we liked their whites so much. A year or so later we are finding that their Syrah is very good!

Domaine des Blagueurs Syrah France 2003
Get a case next time Laura. I like it. Probably just as good as the ‘02.

Domaine des Blagueurs Syrah France 2002
“Ah sirrah!…, we shall do nothing but eat, and make good cheer.” Imported by Bonny Doon in Santa Cruz, this has to be one of my top 10 wines. Great “Barrel” taste to it. I can drink a bottle by myself and not know it.
Oopps, “sorry Laura, did you only get one glass?”

Echelon Syrah San Luis Obispo, CA 2002
Very Light. Silky as the label describes it. Nice flavor if you are looking for a lighter shade of red. Laura isn’t down. Thinks it is a bit bla and not a great after taste. (we like the heavier/heartier wines more anyway) Not bad though if you aren’t really searching for the best red. If it’s on sale get a bottle or two and stash it. Not on sale, don’t waste your money. It’s not Echelon’s finest nor does it compare to their Pinot.
