Trinchero 2004 Merlot Monterey County CA

Trinchero Family 2004 Merlot Red WinePacked full of juicy fruit, some cedar and vanilla flavors, this well balanced Merlot from the Trinchero family really hit the spot. We’re getting a case of this one for sure.

A fantastic wine for under $10!

Winemaker’s notes:

The goal with all of our Trinchero Family wines is to offer the purest expression of the grape variety; fruit-driven and delicious. The 2004 Trinchero Family Merlot is dark, rich, lush and remarkably smooth. It delivers ripe juicy red cherry and jammy currant accented with black tea and roasted jalapeno. The ripe fruit and spice carry through to a velvet-textured finish.

Gimenez Riili Mendoza Argentina 2004 Merlot

Gimenez Riili Perpetuum Merlot 2004Winemakers since 1945!

Harvested by hand in March of 2004, this 100% Merlot from Argentina has us excited for more. To us, this medium-bodied Merlot wine had a bit of smokey taste along with a touch of roasted pepper. Nose contained some delightful fruit and finish was enjoyable and long lasting. A must try wine from Gimenez Riili!

You can order this one online here.

Artesa 2003 Merlot

Artesa 2003 Merlot This delightful Merlot is made up from both Napa and Sonoma County wine grapes. In our opinion, a blend of the best wine growing regions in California. Hard to go wrong with this bottle!

Cherry and raspberry throughout this well developed Merlot from Artesa. Hints of cinnamon and clove with a dash of that cigar smell. If into Merlot then you just need to try this one!

Rex Goliath CA Giant 47 pound rooster Merlot

Well, after getting over the odd name and relatively low price, we thought we’d give this a try after a recommendation from a waiter. And….not too bad. We’ll try another bottle or two later to give a better review.

Firestone Santa Ynez Valley 2002 Merlot

Great Merlot! “…rich flavors of black cherry with hints of clove that unfold into a soft, supple finish.” Well said and well done.

Rutherford Hill Napa Valley CA 2000 Merlot Reserve

Rutherford Hill Napa Valley 2000 Merlot Reserve No problem with this wonderful Merlot from Napa Valley! Intense fruit flavor and a great feel in your mouth! Love the oak flavor in their wines. Those caves they have up there are keeping all their wines in great shape! (you must visit if ever up in Napa Valley area) Another fantastic wine from Rutherford Hill. If we had the money we’d have cases of this stored for future years of amazing wine drinking!

Ironstone 2003 Merlot

We were surprised with this one. Not a bad merlot! We had really liked the Cab Franc from Ironstone. Thought we’d give their Merlot a try and were equally impressed for a $10ish bottle of wine.

Gallo of Sonoma 2003 Reserve Merlot

This was a highly recommended Merlot in some book I was browsing through so I figured we should try it. It was “ok.” Not the best and not the worst. After a glass each we decided to use the rest of the bottle to make some wine sauce for some steaks. Turned out super good. Pan fry your steaks, remove and then pour a bottle of wine in the pan. Let it boil down until thick, add a little butter and pour it over you meat. Awesome.

Rutherford Hill Napa Valley 2002 Merlot

This wine has a nice rich “power” taste but is very silky and easy from the start. Cherry and plum. Aged 15 months in French Oak. Great smell. A GREAT bottle of wine for around $20-$30!
