Chappellet Napa Valley CA 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon

2004 Chappellet We try to visit Napa Valley 2-3 times a year. Each time we take in a few of our favorite wineries and then of course, we try some new places. On our most recent trip, we asked around a few friends, “where should we go?” On top of everyone’s list and on top of some rocky terrain in St. Helena was the vineyard Chappellet. This family owned vineyard has some fantastic wines we just couldn’t go home without!

This intense 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon is very rich and polished, with hints of espresso, currant, herbs and spicy oak. We let it decant for about 40 mins before drinking and it was just super enjoyable. It could sit for another few years to develop even more but we had to uncork it and give it a try and we’re glad we did.

You can actually purchase this great wine online at wine.com.

And when you get up to Napa, give Chappellet a call for a tasting. You’ll love it. Just be careful going up and down that big hill!

Chalone Vineyard CA 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon

Chalone Vineyard From the southern end of Monterey County in California, Chalone Vineyard brings us a nice rich, drinkable Cabernet. Black currant and black cherry flavors with a hint of oak vanilla. (take in the smell and you’ll really sense the cherry and vanilla) For only around $15 a bottle, this Cab was really enjoyable.

Vistalba Corte B 2003 Blend

Vistalba Corte B 2003 A VERY nice red wine blend of Malbec, Cabernet, Bonarda and Merlot from Mendoza Argentina. One of our top 5 picks from Argentina!

About this wine: (from our friends down in Argentina)
“This lush blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec and Bonarda excudes cocoa, cloves and dark plum on the nose with layers of fig and dark berries on the palate. Aged 12 months in French oak and another 10 months in the bottle, this wine can be enjoyed now through 2010.” 90 Points – Wine Spectator

You can order online through Vines of Mendoza wine store.

Castle Rock Monterey County 2005 Pinot Noir

A medium bodied wine with aromas of cherry and some herbal spice. Nice silky texture, easy to drink and very mild. Really good wine that went great with our pasta!

We’ll for sure pick up another bottle or two of this wine.
