Solaris Napa Valley 2002 Special Release Cabernet Sauvignon

We picked up a few of these wines down at High Times and just really enjoyed it. For $10 you can’t go wrong. “…dark berry and black cherry with hints of sage and mint…” flavors. Not as good as the reserve but a great taste for the buck. We’ll grab a case if they still have them! Can you say, “Solaris Fans.”

Rutherford Hill Napa Valley CA 2000 Merlot Reserve

Rutherford Hill Napa Valley 2000 Merlot Reserve No problem with this wonderful Merlot from Napa Valley! Intense fruit flavor and a great feel in your mouth! Love the oak flavor in their wines. Those caves they have up there are keeping all their wines in great shape! (you must visit if ever up in Napa Valley area) Another fantastic wine from Rutherford Hill. If we had the money we’d have cases of this stored for future years of amazing wine drinking!

Solaris Napa Valley 2000 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

“Explosive proportions of cassis, blackberry, and dark cocoa are tempered by fine tannins, hints of vanilla-oak, and moderate acidity.” That summed up this wine perfectly. It’s a nice “dry” red wine…. a delightful surprise. We will be finding and drinking more of this one! Check out Solaris Wines. They have a great bar chart for a tasting profile of each wine. Cool.

Chalone Vineyard Monterey County 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon

This was a dissapointment. I think it needs to sit in the wine rack for a few years. A 2004 seems really young for a Cabernet. or maybe it just isn’t a good wine? Skip it or give it a few years.

Rancho Zabaco Sonoma County 2003 Zinfandel

Better than the dancing bull wine. Racho Zabaco is a good fruitfull zinfandel for the price! Go for it.

Vin De Glaciere Bonny Doon Vineyard 2004 Muscat

OK for a cheaper bottle of dessert wine. A little TOO syrupy! Chill this wine in the freezer for an hour if you’re going to try it.

D’ Aquino Italian 2002 Red Chianti

A good CHEAP bottle of Chianti. I think we picked it up at Trader Joe’s for $5 or something. The second and third glasses are better!
